Honored among the inaugural group in Purdue's Book of Great Teachers (1999).

Wrote two books that were winners of the "Most Outstanding Book in Science and Engineering" award by the Association of American Publishers.

Publications

Published over 250 articles on production engineering and information technology. Author/editor of eight books, including the Handbook of Industrial Robotics (Wiley, 1985) and the International Encyclopedia of Robotics (Wiley, 1988). 

Biography

Professor of Industrial Engineering, Purdue University, has been with Purdue since 1977, and held visiting positions at MIT, the Technion, and Tel-Aviv University. Director of the NSF-industry supported PRISM Program (Production, Robotics and Integration Software for Manufacturing & Management). Received his B.Sc. (69) and M.Sc. (72) in Industrial & Management Engineering (Human-Machine Systems), Technion, Haifa, Israel; Ph.D. in Industrial & Operations Engineering (Production Simulation and Databases), University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (76).
Areas of scholarly and consulting work: computer integrated manufacturing, applications of information technologies, and industrial robotics. His research pioneered the development of knowledge-based computer-aided facility design and control models. His current research focus is on computer-supported integration and collaboration of distributed work. Developed and has taught the courses "Industrial Robotics and Flexible Assembly", "Computer and Communication Methods in Production Control", "Integrated Production Systems I and II", and "I.E. Computing".
In 1999 Dr. Nof was honored among the inaugural group in Purdue's Book of Great Teachers.
