Hardware and software assets exist to create, manipulate, store, retrieve,
and destroy information assets. Generally speaking, concerns to information
assets are a derivative of concerns an organization might have about
its hardware and software assets.
Returning to our discussion on trust, organizations and individuals
need to be able to determine if a given piece of data is accurate, if
sets of data and information are accurate, and if the entire information/knowledge
bank within the organization is accurate.
Due to the gravity of and need for information security, information
security practitioners have developed a set of goals to alleviate concerns
with information assets. You will learn about these goals in lesson
three.
